Green Eve Turns One

IT'S GREEN EVE'S FIRST BIRTHDAY!

Really cannot believe how fast time flew by; it's been a year since our very first post! Our adventure with Green Eve has been amazing, and the opportunities presented to us because of the blog have been overwhelming. Thank you to everyone who supported us from the start, and to those who continue to believe in us and pushing us to endless limits; you know who you are. And of course, our beautiful readers. Thank you to anyone who has ever read a post on G.E., to those who visit every once in a while and most importantly the loyal ones who keep up with all our posts and features: THANK YOU!

We're still young and technically new to the scene, but as long as we make even the slightest of difference and encourage individuals to look at life with a more conscious and responsible view, we're happy!

Here's hoping for many more birthdays to come!

Love,

Green Eve xx

Think Up: The Bloggers of Green Eve

We were recently contacted by Think Up, a website dedicated to highlighting and exposing young talent from the Middle East and particularly the GCC region, as they wanted to interview us for a feature on Green Eve! Of course we were delighted for the opportunity, and really appreciated the recognition, especially from a great initiative such as Think Up. Check out the article here!

Thank you Think Up!

Green Eve Around Manchester

Hey guys! It's Anoud & Alyazia. So here's the story... Today we went down to the city centre after class since the weather was sunny, but very cold won't lie. Then, our usual hyperness kicked in and we decided to take random videos and show you guys around Manchester. I hope we won't regret this post but oh well this is us! Sorry for some parts of the video where you can barely hear us, but it was so windy, as you'll clearly see! So here goes, hope you enjoy :p

Green Eve is Going Home :)

Hey guys!

Just to let you know that we will be going back home today for the holidays and so Green Eve won't be updated as often. However, Anoud will be blogging as much as she can from Amman, and Alyazia will do so too from Dubai ; we will have some very interesting posts about each city. Plus, we've got a few posts already saved and will be published soon :) So hopefully Green Eve will still be updated at least once daily xx

Remember, for all the updates like us on Facebook here, or follow us on twitter @AnoudAlFawwaz & @JaziSaeed.

P.S: Hope you all enjoy the holidays and for all those who are also going back home for the month hope you get there safely!

Enjoy the song below :) ♥

A Day in Manchester

I absolutely love Manchester during the holiday season. From the Christmas market and the street decorations, to the wonderful atmosphere, it is so beautiful and people are all out and about despite the extreme cold. Today me and Jazi went to do some last minute shopping before heading back home in a few days (eeek!!), and thankfully I had my camera stashed somewhere in  my bag. We went to Market Street and Piccadilly Gardens, and then decided to check out the 'greenest office building in Manchester' and show it to you all. So here we go:

Ok first off, as we were walking through Market Street, we spotted a little stand with very disturbing pictures of tortured animals and a sign that said 'Sign the Petition'. After asking about the cause and reading about the horrible stories, we immediately signed it. Basically it is a petition to call on the Home Secretary to close down the Huntingdon Life Sciences (HLS) animal testing lab. It is Europe's largest and has 70,000 animals imprisoned with experiments on horses, donkeys and deer. How horrible is it that EVERYDAY 500 animals die inside HLS? So please, if you are living in Manchester,  make sure you head down to Market Street and sign the petition! And for everyone else, please check out their facebook group here. Unfortunately, their online petition has now closed, but do check out the support it got and other animal-related petitions here.

And then it was off to the beautiful Piccadilly Gradens:

Random person roaming the market, wanted to be photographed :)

And finally, introducing Manchester's greenest building: The Number One First Street

Below is the Number One building, which is part of the 20-acre First Street scheme that is aimed at extending the heart of Manchester city!  The project is going to transform Manchester city centre with modern and GREEN boulevards that cater to residents, employees, and visitors as well.

On June 1, 2010 Manchester City Council relocated to Number One.

The Number One building & behind it home, Parkway Gate :)

The 'Green' Scale, with A being the most green and G being the least. Number one is an excellent B Green :)

Our very first post

Ok here goes... This is our very first post! To start with, here's a brief introduction about Green Eve: Green Eve was started by us (Anoud & Alyazia) as a way to share our daily experiences and express our views on everything and anything but with a green prespective.

A little info about us: We are Anoud Al-Fawwaz and Alyazia Sabra; two girls who happened to meet a couple of months ago during our first year of university and later discovered the many friends and interests that we both coincidently shared. We are both living in Manchester UK and are studying at the University of Manchester. Anoud is studying Urban Planning (or as the British like to call it, Town and Country planning) and Alyazia is studying Environmental Management.

We believe that a female (eve) should be intellectual, broad-minded, tasteful & environmentally conscious. A modern day 'green eve' is a responsible member of the society that knows how to enjoy life and all it has to offer but through a green and eco-friendly mindset. Oh and this doesn't just apply to eves, adams are included as well :p . Everyone in the society must understand their obligation towards our Planet. It has so much beauty to offer us so why can't we do the simplest of things, such as recyling, to give back to it and preserve what is left of it?
