The 2012 Chevy Volt: Not Just An Electric Car

The 2012 Chevrolet Volt has been generating quite the buzz with it's one of a kind efficient technology that makes it stand out from the crowd of hybrid and electric vehicles. So what exactly makes it unique? Well, unlike an average hybrid car, the Volt can run on two sources of energy:
1) A battery that represents the electric source which allows you to drive gas-free for an estimated 35 miles.
2) An on-board gas generator that allows the vehicle to go up to an additional 375 miles on a full tank of gas when it produces electricity.

Besides fuel efficiency, the Chevy Volt has another major benefit: many of its parts are made from recycled materials - from waste generated from cleaning up the Gulf of Mexico oil spill to be more specific. Very impressive; explains why it was awarded the 2011 Green Car of the Year by the Green Car Journal.
